Obituary of Darlene Ruth Higgins

Darlene Ruth Higgins Funeral services for Darlene Ruth Higgins of Winfield, MO will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 21, 2009 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Rev. Mark Ford, pastor of River Oaks Church in Wentzville, MO, will officiate with burial in Whispering Winds Cemetery near Winfield. Serving as pallbearers will be Ed Kallery, Marty Litton, Ted Combs, Mike Collins, Robby Kallery and Cody Higgins. Mrs. Higgins, 69, died Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at her home in Winfield. Born September 30, 1940 in St. Louis, MO, she was the daughter of Thurman and Doris Potthast Thompson. She was a 1957 graduate of Wentzville High School. She was united in marriage on December 22, 1961 in Ellisville, MO to Robert Wayne Higgins. This union was blessed with four children: Kenny, Susie, Debbie and Bruce. Mrs. Higgins was a lifelong member of the Wentzville VFW #5327 Ladies Auxiliary and served as past president. She was also a member of the Winfield Lions Club. She was preceded in death by her parents: Thurman Thompson, and Doris and Carl Sontag. Survivors include her beloved husband of 47 years, Robert Higgins of Winfield; two sons: Kenny Higgins and his wife, Kelly, of Potosi, MO, and Bruce Higgins of Winfield; two daughters: Susie Bryant of Moscow Mills, MO, and Debbie Higgins of Bowling Green, MO; eleven grandchildren: Tara Crittendon, Robert Kallery, Jennifer Higgins, Shawn Campbell, Cody Higgins, Taylor Higgins, Jessica Bryant, Andrew Bryant, Nick Higgins, Alex Bryant, and Hunter Higgins; four great-grandchildren: Jayda Higgins, Grant Kallery, Ethan Crittendon, and Jordan Reed; several other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 20, 2009 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
