Obituary of Norma Jo Miller

Norma Jo (Gibson) Miller Graveside services for Norma Jo Gibson Miller of Columbia, MO, formerly of Elsberry, MO will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 25, 2009 at the Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry with Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in charge of the services. Mrs. Miller passed away Sunday afternoon, July 19, 2009 at Boone Hospital in Columbia. Born August 9, 1933 in Elsberry, she was the daughter of John H. and Mildred Langford Gibson. She was a 1951 graduate of Elsberry High School, and received a Bachelor of Elementary Education from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She was a devoted mother and worked for the Columbia Public Schools at Lee Elementary School from 1992-2002. She was a faithful member of the First Christian Church in Columbia where she was the church pianist and founder of the First Christian Drennan Singers, which celebrated its 25th Anniversary in 2008. She was preceded in death by her parents, John H. and Mildred Gibson. Survivors include her daughter, Carol Miller, and her son, Craig Miller; cousins: Deanna Langford, Jane Lawson and Ann Lindgren; other immediate family members, Brandon Miller and numerous cousins and friends. A Memorial Service was held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at First Christian Church in Columbia, with Rev. Dr. John Yonker officiating. Visitation was held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at Parker Funeral Service in Columbia. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of Columbia - Music Ministry, 101 N.
