Obituary of Bernice V. Kinion

Bernice V. Kinion Funeral services for Bernice Virginia Kinion of Elsberry, MO will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 13, 2009 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Msgr. Gregory Schmidt, pastor of Immaculate Conception Church near Old Monroe, will officiate with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be her sons: Frank "Oscar" Kinion, George Kinion, Joseph "Nicky" Kinion, Johnny Kinion, Tommy Kinion and Steve Kelly. Mrs. Kinion, 83, passed away Friday afternoon, July 10, 2009 at the home of her daughter near Elsberry. Born August 8, 1925 in St. Charles, MO, she was the daughter of Frederick Joseph and Dorothy Ann Trendley Bernard. She was united in marriage on May 29, 1942 in Cottleville, MO to Marion Franklin "Frank" Kinion. This union was blessed with eight children: Frank, George, Barb, Joseph, Robert, Mary, Johnny and Tommy. Bernice was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsberry. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Dorothy Bernard; two sisters: Doris Bernard (who died as an infant) and Marian Fry; three brothers: Harold Bernard, Stanley Bernard and Frederick "Fritz" Bernard; one son, Robert Dale Kinion, who died May 7, 2000; three grandsons: Paul Kinion, Kurt Kinion and Timothy Kinion; and one great-granddaughter, Alesia Crocker; and her beloved husband of 64 years, Frank Kinion, who died January 21, 2007. Survivors include six sons: Frank "Oscar" Kinion and his wife, Mary, of Hollywood, MD, George Kinion of Winfield, MO, Joseph "Nicky" Kinion and his wife, Loretta, of St. Clair, MO, Johnny Kinion and his wife, Jean, of Wentzville, MO, Tommy Kinion and his wife, Dina, of Elsberry, and Steve Kelly and his wife, Rita, of Dallas, TX; two daughters: Barb Haywood and her husband, Tom, of Warrenton, MO, and Mary Mackey and her husband, Arlyn, of Elsberry; 38 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and 34 great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves one sister-in-law, Mary Bernard of St. Charles, MO; several in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 12, 2009 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
