Obituary of Betty Jean Meyer

Betty Jean Meyer Funeral Services for Betty Jean Meyer of Winfield, MO will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 12, 2009 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Rev. Richard Turnbull, of Winfield, will officiate with burial in Whispering Winds Cemetery near Winfield. Serving as pallbearers will be Larry Noble, Morris Dane Colbert, Bobby Lawrence, Steve Markus, Bobby Gladney, and Jim Day Mrs. Meyer, 75, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at the Lincoln County Medical Center in Troy, MO. Born September 11, 1933 in Elsberry, MO, she was the daughter of Louis Merritt "Louie" and Mabel Lee Taylor Briscoe. She was married in 1950 to Darrell Wallace. This union was blessed with one son, Daniel. She was later married on September 5, 1985 in Troy, MO to Victor Frederick Meyer. She owned and operated Meyer's Liquor Store for many years, retiring in 1990. Mrs. Meyer was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary #5517 in Winfield. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louie and Mabel Briscoe; one brother, Donnie Briscoe; and her husband, Victor Meyer who died October 27, 1998. Survivors include one son Daniel Wallace and his wife, Debbie, of Foley, MO; and one granddaughter, Rebecca Dorrell and her husband, Grant, of Springfield, MO. She also leaves one brother, Billy Bob Briscoe and his wife, Agnes, of Robertsville, MO; two nieces, several great nieces and great nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 11, 2009 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO.
