Obituary of Joyce Fay Stone

Joyce Fay Stone Funeral services for Joyce Fay Stone of Elsberry, MO will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2009 at Star Hope Baptist Church near Elsberry. Rev. Alan Calkins, church pastor, will officiate with burial in Star Hope Cemetery near Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be Aaron Burger, Josh Funke, Mike Griffin, Nick Sciarratta, Josh Hausgen and Cyril Heintzelman. Mrs. Stone, 58, passed away Tuesday morning, June 9, 2009 at her home near Elsberry. Born March 30, 1951 in Louisiana, MO, she was the daughter of Roy Benjamin and Lula Irene Norton Burger. A lifelong resident of Elsberry, she was a 1969 graduate of Elsberry High School. She was united in marriage on July 25, 1969 in Elsberry to Robert Lynn Stone. This union was blessed with three children: Chad, Regina and Jennifer. Mrs. Stone was employed for 15 years as a teacher's aid for the Lincoln County R-2 School District in Elsberry, retiring in May, 2007. She was a member of the Star Hope Baptist Church where she served as organist for many years. She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Burger. Survivors include her beloved husband of almost 40 years, Bob Stone of Elsberry; one son, Chad Stone and his wife, Jody, of Elsberry; two daughters: Regina Stone and Jennifer Stone, both of Elsberry; and four grandchildren: Chelsie, Kyle, Connor and Wyatt Stone. She also leaves her mother, Lula Burger of Elsberry; her brother, Fred J. Burger and his wife, Debbie, of Elsberry; two aunts: Violet Stone and Ida Anderson, both of Elsberry; five cousins, John Stone and his wife, Rosina, of Lake Saint Louis, MO, Jane Stone of Brownsville, TX, Janice Hare and her husband, Warren, of Elsberry, Jeanette Brooksher and her husband, Carey, of Elsberry, and John Burger and his wife Carla, of Peoria, IL; several in-laws, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2009 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Memorials may be made to the Family of Joyce Stone or the Susan G.
