Sandra Elizabeth Powell A Graveside Service for Sandra Elizabeth Powell of Sturgeon, MO formerly of Columbia, MO, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 21, 2009 at the Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry, MO. J. Larry Carter of Carter-Ricks Funeral Homes will officiate with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry, MO. Ms. Powell, 56, died Monday, May 18, 2009 at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans' Hospital in Columbia, MO. Born April 22, 1953 in St. Louis, MO, she was the daughter of Robert and Helen Marie Burkamp Jackson. She attended grade school in Elsberry until her family moved to Troy where she graduated from Buchanan High School in 1971. She later completed two years at the University of Missouri Columbia. Sandra served as an optometry technician in the United States Army from January 30, 1978 until being honorably discharged on August 8, 1986. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Helen Jackson. Survivors include one son, Jason Powell of Columbia, MO; two brothers: Bob Suddarth and his wife, Joan, of Elsberry, and Jerry Suddarth, and his wife, Linda Caulfield, of O'Fallon, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
