Obituary of William Richard Jack

William R. "Bill" Jack Funeral services for William Richard "Bill" Jack of Winfield, MO will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Rev. Mike Ryan, pastor of the Winfield Baptist Church, will officiate with burial in the Winfield Cemetery in Winfield. Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Ellison, Mike Ellison, Noah Ellison, Robert Foust, Tim Weiss and Kenneth Collins. Mr. Jack, 85, died early Sunday morning, March 1, 2009 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Born July 30, 1923 in Winfield, he was the son of Birdie Lee Green Jack. He entered the U.S. Navy on January 3, 1941, and was serving on the USS Tennessee in Pearl Harbor when the U.S. was attacked on December 7, 1941. He retired from active duty on June 25, 1964 after a career of 23 years. He was later employed as a receiving clerk for Western Auto, retiring in 1980. He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Birdie Lee and Karl Jack; and two brothers, Robert Marlow and Donnie Jack. Survivors include his beloved friend and companion for over 37 years, Hazel F. Bevans of Winfield; and two daughters: Patricia Sharp of Michigan and Theresa Sweet of Missouri. He also leaves one sister, Loretta Gibbs Hall of Fort Smith, AR; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until time of the service on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
