Obituary of Kenneth Lee Broyles

Kenneth Lee Broyles, Sr. Funeral services for Kenneth Lee Broyles, Sr. of O'Fallon, MO will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 13, 2009 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Rev. Mike Ryan, pastor of Winfield Baptist Church, will officiate with burial in Whispering Winds Cemetery near Winfield. Serving as pallbearers will be Tim Broyles, Norman Ferguson, Bart Pirtle, Jerry Benedict, Skye Broyles, and Cole Broyles. Mr. Broyles, 73, passed away Tuesday afternoon, February 10, 2009 at his home in O'Fallon. Born December 16, 1935 in Winfield, MO, he was the son of Raymond Dea and Lucille Irene Elston Broyles. He was a 1953 graduate of Winfield High School. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served his country in the U.S. Army from June 9, 1954 until being honorably discharged on June 9, 1956. He was united in marriage on August 19, 1954 in Troy, MO to Cathline Ann 'Cathy' Benedict. This union was blessed with four children: Kenny, Jr., Joan, Tim, and Dean. He worked for 34 � years for McDonnell Douglas, retiring on February 1, 1991. Mr. Broyles was a member of the National Rifle Association, the Machinist Local #837 in St. Louis, MO, and the American Legion Post #323 in Wentzville, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Lucille Broyles; three brothers: Donald Eugene Broyles, Dallas Raymond Broyles, and Carlos Broyles; and two sisters: Helen Marie Broyles and LaVerna Vaughn. Survivors include his beloved wife of 54 years, Cathy Broyles of O'Fallon; three sons: Kenny Broyles, Jr. and his wife, Sheila, of O'Fallon, Tim Broyles and his wife, Cheryl, of Winfield, and Dean Broyles and his wife, Deb, of St. Peters, MO; one daughter, Joan Stone and her husband, Rich, of Winfield; eleven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He also leaves two sisters: Virginia Ferguson of Trenton, IL, and Marjorie Elliott of Bowling Green, MO; three sisters-in-law, Irene Broyles of San Diego, CA, Jeannie Benedict of Wentzville, MO, and Ruby Sachs and her husband, Wally, of St. Paul, MO; his constant companion, Twister; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 12, 2009 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
