Obituary of Helen Bernice Wilp

Funeral services for Helen Bernice Wilp of Moscow Mills, MO, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 6, 2008 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO. Rev. Scott Groshong, pastor of the Corinth Christian Church, will officiate with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Roscoe Hines, Dennis Hines, Bob Girt, Paul Tomco, Charles Smith, Keith Groshong, and Loyd Groshong. Mrs. Wilp, 93, passed away early Wednesday morning, December 3, 2008 at the Elsberry Health Care Center in Elsberry, MO. Born August 6, 1915 in Briscoe, MO, she was the daughter of Charles Headly and Vera Belle "Bess" Weeks Groshong. She was united in marriage on March 22, 1937 in Troy, MO to Carl Raymond Wilp. This union was blessed with one daughter, Carol Edith. Mrs. Wilp was a member of the Auburn Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Vera Groshong; two sisters: Edith Chambers and Doris Groshong; one brother, Charles Groshong; two brothers-in-law: Elmer Chambers and Raymond Momphard; one sister-in-law, Iva Mae Groshong; and her beloved husband of 34 years, Carl Wilp who died August 30, 1971. Survivors include one daughter, Carol Wilp of Moscow Mills; one brother, Alvin "Pete" Groshong and his wife, June, of Troy, MO; one sister, Alberta Momphard of Troy; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 5, 2008 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
