Obituary of Claire E. Simpson

Funeral services for Claire E. Simpson of Foley, MO will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 24, 2008 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Scott Groshong, pastor of Corinth Christian Church, will officiate with burial in the Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry. Mrs. Simpson, 85, died late Thursday evening, November 20, 2008 at her home in Foley. Born June 5, 1923 in St. Louis, MO, she was the daughter of William and Maude Swan Fable. She was united in marriage to Martin Bakker in September of 1940. This union was blessed with three children: Paul, Terry and Jill. She was later united in marriage on June 29, 1973 in St. Louis, MO to Donald Edward Simpson. She attended the Corinth Christian Church in Foley, MO. Mrs. Simpson was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Maude Fable; and her beloved husband of 25 years, Donald Simpson who died October 16, 1998. Survivors include two sons: Paul Bakker and his wife, Nelda, of Ocala, FL, and Terry Bakker and his wife, Portia, of Salina, KS; one daughter, Jill Reed and her husband, Jerome, of Foley; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held 1:00 p.m. until the time of service Monday, November 24, 2008 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
