Obituary of Ruby Elizabeth Morris

Funeral services for Ruby Elizabeth Morris of Elsberry, MO will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at the Star Hope Baptist Church near Elsberry. Rev. Allen Calkins, church pastor, will officiate with burial in the Star Hope Cemetery near Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be Daniel Morris, Peter Morris, David Morris, Roger Morris, Tommy Kinion and Nick Kinion. Mrs. Morris, 80, died early Saturday morning, October 18, 2008 at Troy Manor in Troy, MO. Born October 12, 1928 in Cushman, AK, she was the daughter of Orlando and Margaret Palmer Kinion. She was united in marriage on November 1, 1944 in Elsberry to Lester Morris. This union was blessed with one son, Roger. Mrs. Morris worked for twenty seven years as a housekeeper at the Lincoln County Memorial Hospital. She was a long-time member of the Star Hope Baptist Church near Elsberry. She was preceded in death by her parents, Orlando and Margaret Kinion; three sisters: Ida Belle Dixon, Margie Grisby and Ethel Bales; one brother, Frank Kinion; and her beloved husband of 38 years, Lester Morris who died in 1982. Survivors include one son, Roger Morris and his wife, Linda, of Foley, MO; three grandsons: Daniel Morris and his wife, Elsie, of Suffolk, VA, Peter Morris and his wife, Jennifer, of Troy, and David Morris and his wife, Kelly, of O'Fallon, MO; and four great-grandchildren. She also leaves one sister-in-law, Bernice Kinion of Elsberry; her special friend, Milton Gray; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
