Obituary of Rita Faye Scherffius

Funeral Services for Rita Faye Scherffius of St. Peters, MO, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home with burial in Jefferson Barracks National 2xzCemetery in St. Louis, MO. Serving as pallbearers will be Lisa Becker, Michael Becker, John Becker, Gene Davis, and Richard Grimes. Mrs. Scherffius, 74, died Wednesday afternoon, September 24, 2008 at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital in St. Peters, MO. Born March 5, 1934 in Bragg City, MO, she was the daughter of Everett and Sylvia Kinder. She was united in marriage on March 21, 1954 in St. Louis, MO to Ralph J. Scherffius. This union was blessed with two children: Alan Dale and Lisa Gail. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Everett and Sylvia Kinder; three brothers: Peter Kinder, Paul Kinder, and Lindell Kinder; and one sister, Nadine Elwell. Survivors include her beloved husband of 54 years, Ralph Scherffius of St. Peters; one son, Alan Scherffius of Old Monroe, MO; one daughter, Lisa Becker and her husband, Michael, of St. Peters; two grandchildren: Johnathan Becker and Heather Scherffius; and one great-granddaughter, Kendra Martin. She also leaves three brothers: Kenneth Kinder and his wife, Imogene, of Collinsville, IL, Jim Kinder and his wife, Geraldine, of Cleveland, OH, and Jerry Kinder of Collinsville, IL; one sister, Margie Powers of CA; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 29, 2008 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
