Obituary of Jerry Lee Delp

Funeral Services for Jerry Lee Delp of Winfield, MO, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 27, 2008 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Rev. Charles Baker, of Erie, PA, will officiate with burial in Whispering Winds Cemetery near Winfield. Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Baker, Dan Coffey, Kevin Stephenson, Donnie Brown, Jeff Blank and Keith Thomas. Mr. Delp, 56, died Tuesday evening, September 23, 2008 at his home near Winfield. Born August 9, 1952 in Kittanning, PA, he was the son of Samuel Clyden and Mary Elizabeth Guthrie Delp. A veteran of the Vietnam War he served his country in the United States Army from August 13, 1973 until being honorably discharged on June 8, 1979. He was united in marriage on October 15, 1977 in Ft. Eutus, VA to Tamara Catherine Huntington. This union was blessed with two sons: Christopher Wayne and Brian Thomas. He was later married on January 1, 1998 in Winfield to Barbara Ann Brown. Mr. Delp worked for several years as a brazer for Hussman Refrigeration. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Local #9014 in St. Louis, MO. He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Delp; and his first wife, Tamara Delp, who died November, 20, 1996. Survivors include his beloved wife of 10 years, Barbara Delp of Winfield; two sons: Christopher Delp, and his fianc�e, Jenni Kahle, of Kansas City, MO, and Brian Delp of Cadogan, PA; one step-daughter, Cynthia McSparin and her husband, John, of Eldorado, IL; one grandson, Hunter Delp; and four step-grandchildren: Timothy McSparin, Sarah McSparin, Lindsey Barnes and Chase Kahle. He also leaves his mother, Mary Delp of Cadogan, PA; five brothers: Fred Delp and his wife, Karen, of Cadogan, PA, Walter "Bud" Delp and his wife, Carol, of Cadogan, PA, Wayne Delp and his wife, Debi, of Erie, PA, James Delp of Atlanta, GA, and Clyde Delp and his wife, Donna, of Cadogan, PA; three sisters: Margaret Green of Robertsville, OH, Elizabeth "Betty" Klingensmith and her husband, Delmar, of Homeworth, OH, and Ruth Baker and her husband, Rev. Charles Baker, of Erie, PA; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 26, 2008 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
