Obituary of Evelyn Elizabeth Retherford

Funeral services for Evelyn Elizabeth Retherford of Fairview Heights, IL, formerly of O'Fallon, MO will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 4, 2008 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO. Rev. Ronald McGrew, pastor of the EastView Baptist Church in Belleville, IL, will officiate with burial in Whispering Winds Cemetery near Winfield, MO. Serving as pallbearers will be Bryan Butts, Doyle Wilkerson III, Joseph Devine, Ricky Wilson and Todd Hileman. Mrs. Retherford, 61, died Friday, August 29, 2008 at her home in Fairview Heights. Born September 24, 1946 in St. Charles, MO, she was the daughter of Harold and Edna Hubbard Whitlock. She was united in marriage on December 13, 1999 in Winfield to Dennis Paul Retherford. Mrs. Retherford was a member of the EastView Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Edna Whitlock; one daughter, Tina Spengler, who died September 22, 1997; and her beloved husband, Dennis Retherford, who died July 4, 2001. Survivors include three sons: Doyle "Gene" Wilkerson, Jr. and his wife, Melissa, of Belleville, IL, Harold Wilson of Fairview Heights, IL, and David Spivey of Modesto, CA; one daughter, Pam Clanton of Poplar Bluff, MO; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She also leaves two brothers: Eddie Whitlock and his wife, Betty, of St. Paul, MO and Rick Whitlock and his wife, Linda, of Troy, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service Thursday, September 4, 2008 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
