Obituary of Roger Dale Cannon

Funeral Services for Roger Dale Cannon of Winfield, MO, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2008 at the Foley Baptist Church in Foley, MO. Rev. James Lee, church pastor, and Rev. Richard Turnbull of Winfield, will officiate with burial in Bethany Cemetery near Foley. Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Krieg, Michael Keepen, Ken Dallas, Vernon Jordon, Danny Parsons and Alan McHugh; honorary pallbearers will be Gary Krieg, Larry Briscoe, John Bromwich, Tom Crum and Don Dallas. Mr. Cannon, 78, died Wednesday evening, August 20, 2008 as the result of a farming accident near his home near Winfield. Born March 12, 1930 in Winfield, MO, he was the son of Roger Q. and Clara E. Pickhardt Cannon. He was the Valedictorian of the Winfield High School class of 1948. He was united in marriage on November 2, 1963 at Lake Charles Hills in O'Fallon, MO to Sylvia May Robertson. This union was blessed with three children: Russell, Angie and Joy. Mr. Cannon was a member and Deacon of the Foley Baptist Church. He also served on the board of Bethany Cemetery. He was an active volunteer at WINCO in Winfield and assisted with Meals on Wheels. He was a former member of the Lincoln County R-4 school board. Involved in farming all of his life, he attended and participated in many Allis Chalmers Tractor events. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Clara Cannon; and one sister, Delma June Dallas. Survivors include his beloved wife of almost 45 years, Sylvia Cannon of Winfield; one son, Russell Cannon and his wife, Karla, of Winfield; two daughters: Angie D. Keepen and her husband, Michael, and R. Joy Cannon all of Winfield; and six grandchildren. He also leaves one sister, Glenda Krieg and her husband, Gary, of Moscow Mills, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 22, 2008 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
