Obituary of John Stewart

Funeral Services for John Thomas Stewart of Annada, MO will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 19, 2008 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Charles Moore, of Louisiana, MO, and Rev. Bob Norvel, pastor of Annada Christian Church, will officiate with burial in Dover Cemetery near Clarksville, MO. Serving as pallbearers will be Bruce Stewart II, Adam Stewart, Jared Stewart, Jeremy Jones, Jim Suchland, Jeremy Hansen, Chris Thurman and Aaron Carr; honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Redd, Randy Lovell, Daniel Colbert, Ed Wheeler, David Vortman, Richard Grimshaw, Lorie Lovejoy, Jr. and Trisha Jones. Mr. Stewart, 28, passed away Thursday morning, May 15, 2008 at his home in Annada. Born January 5, 1980 in Louisiana, he was the son of Bruce Ray and Brenda Jane Estes Stewart. He was a 1998 graduate of Clopton High School in southern Pike County. He graduated from the Universal Technical Institution in Chicago with a degree in diesel mechanics. He was united in marriage on May 12, 2001 in Troy, MO to Alexandra Elizabeth Whitford. This union was blessed with three children: John Thomas, Carter Ray and Levi Dalton. He was a Sergeant supervising correctional officers at Northeast Correctional Center in Bowling Green, MO. Mr. Stewart was a volunteer firefighter in Clarksville. He was a member of the Phoenix Masonic Lodge #136, AF&AM in Bowling Green. John enjoyed spending time with his boys, family and friends. He loved hunting, fishing, four wheelers, big trucks, racing, and country music. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, John Frank Estes; his maternal great-grandparents, John and Cleo Estes; his paternal great-grandparents, Richard and Freda Stewart; one great aunt, Alice Stewart; his mother-in-law, Pamela Whitford; and one niece, Katelyn Whitford. Survivors include his beloved wife of 7 years, Alexandra Stewart of Annada; three sons: John Stewart II, Carter Stewart and Levi Stewart; his parents, Bruce and Brenda Stewart of Annada; three brothers: Bruce Stewart II and his special friend, Kay Patrick, of Annada, Adam Stewart and his wife, Nikki, of Elsberry and Jared Stewart of Annada. He also leaves his paternal grandparents, Gene and Dottie Stewart of Elsberry; his maternal grandmother, Lucille Estes of Elsberry; his father in-law, Charles Whitford and his wife, Teresa, of Briscoe, MO; four uncles: Lorie Lovejoy, Jr. and special friend, Robin Howard, Dick Stewart and wife, Teresa, Joe Estes and wife, Paulette, and John Calhoun; eight aunts Cynthia Sampson and husband, Eric, Debbie Vortman and husband, David, Pam Grimshaw and husband, Richard, Melissa Wheeler and husband, Ed, Helen Hunter and husband, Tommie, Ruth Lee and husband, Donald, Cheryl Danner and husband, Nellis and Catherine Webb and husband, Thom; two brothers-in-law: Brian Whitford and his wife, Jennifer, of Troy, and Charles Whitford and his wife, Amanda, of Whiteside, MO; two sisters-in-law: Angela King and her husband, Travis, of Troy and Trisha Haffener of Troy; six nephews: Forrest Young, Kaleb Whitford, Austyn Haffener, Thomas Harrison, Anthony Whitford and Hayden Whitford; four nieces Madison Stewart, Alissa Young, Morgan Young and Cieara Haffener; one special cousin, Trisha Jones and her husband, Jeremy, of Houston, TX; other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2008 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
