Obituary of Vernon Leonard Dunlap

Funeral Services for Vernon Leonard Dunlap of Winfield, MO will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO. Rev. Jeanne Lischer of Marthasville, MO will officiate with burial in Whispering Winds Cemetery near Winfield. Serving as pallbearers will be Derek Dunlap, Brad Dickherber, Ben Dunlap, Joel Dunlap, Chris Dunlap, Mike Dunlap and Paul Dickherber. Mr. Dunlap, 77, passed away Saturday evening, May 10, 2008 at th e Lincoln County Medical Center in Troy, MO. Born July 19, 1930 in Harviell, MO, he was the son of Emmett and Lucille "Lucy" Poglajen Dunlap. He was united in marriage on July 20, 1956 in St. Louis, MO to Donna Jeanette Hedrick. The union was blessed with three children: Lowell, David and Rhonda. He was employed for many years as a Journeyman plumber in commercial construction, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Plumbers Union Local #563. Mr. Dunlap was a local musician for 35 years, playing the guitar for Ed Taylor and the Western Echo's. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Lucille Dunlap; and two brothers: Charles Dunlap and Bill Dunlap. Survivors include his beloved wife of 51 years, Donna Dunlap of Winfield, MO; two sons: Lowell Dunlap and his wife, Diana, of Winfield, and David Dunlap and his wife, Kathy, of St. Peters, MO; and one daughter, Rhonda Dickherber and her husband, John, of Wentzville, MO. He also leaves seven grandsons; two great-granddaughters; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
