Obituary of James E. Allen

A Memorial Service for James Elmo Allen, Sr. of Elsberry, MO will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2008 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. John Zellmer, pastor of the New Hope Baptist Church, will officiate with inurnment in Elsberry City Cemetery. Mr. Allen, 79, passed away early Wednesday morning, April 16, 2008 at his home in Elsberry. Born October 21, 1928 in Formosa, AR, he was the son of Boyd and May Holloway Allen. He was united in marriage on October 30, 1948 in St. Louis, MO to Nola Mae Ingrassia. This union was blessed with three children: James Elmo, Michael Lee and Beverly Kay. He was employed for several years as a grocery clerk for Kroger, later working for National until he retired in 1991. Mr. Allen was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church near Elsberry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Boyd and May Allen; two brothers: Arthur Lee Allen and Lester Allen; one sister, Delora Bledsoe; and one son, James Allen, Jr. Survivors include his beloved wife of 59 years, Nola Allen of Elsberry; one son, Michael Allen of Elsberry; one daughter, Beverly Bommarito of Elsberry; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He also leaves one brother, L.B. Allen; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until the time of the service Friday at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
