Obituary of Shirley D. Parkus

Funeral Services for Shirley Deane Parkus of Elsberry, MO, formerly of Southern California, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 20, 2008 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO. Rev. Garry McCracken, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, will officiate with burial in Whispering Winds Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jim Sheppard, Devin Finch, Orville Parkus, Randy Parkus, Mike Lewis and Bob Kindred. Mrs. Parkus, 70, passed away early Monday morning, April 14, 2008 at St. Joseph Hospital West in Lake St. Louis, MO. Born February 18, 1938 in St. Charles, MO she was the daughter of Sterling and Anna Marie Ohlemeyer DeCoster. She was united in marriage on June 16, 1956 in St. Charles to John Lester Parkus. She was employed for many years as a bookkeeper. Mrs. Parkus was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Corona, CA. She was preceded in death by her father, Sterling DeCoster; one brother, Joseph DeCoster; and one sister, Peggy DeCoster. Survivors include her beloved husband of 51 years, John Parkus of Elsberry, MO; her mother, Anna DeCoster of Southern California; one brother-in-law, Cletus Parkus of St. Charles, MO; two sisters-in-law: Ida Parkus of St. Charles, and Janet "Chub" DeCoster of Marthasville, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service Sunday at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
