Obituary of Dorothy Brown

Funeral services for Dorothy Mae Brown of Lonedell, MO will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Linda Zych of Smith Chapel United Methodist Church will officiate with burial in the Elsberry City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Charles Cohoon, Bob Davis, Michael Brown, William Brown, Larry Brown and Loyd Brown. Mrs. Brown, 84, passed away Sunday evening, March 30, 2008 at the Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, TX. Born January 30, 1924 in Annada, MO, she was the daughter of John Samuel and Jessie Frances Norton Jamison. She was a graduate of Paynesville High School. She was united in marriage on September 9, 1944 in Elsberry to George Prentiss Brown. This union was blessed with three sons: William Lynn, Larry Francis, and Loyd Bruce. Mrs. Brown worked for several years in the ladies department at Famous Barr. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Jessie Jamison; one sister, Anna Belle Davis; and her beloved husband of 50 years, George Brown, who died May 27, 1995. Survivors include three sons: William Brown of Kountze, TX, Larry Brown and his wife, Lynn, of Webster Groves, MO, and Loyd Brown and his fianc�, Ronda, of St. Clair, MO; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She also leaves one brother, John Jamison and his wife, Joyce, of Louisiana, MO; one sister, Willie Utz and her husband, Lewis, of Shelbina, Mo; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 12:00 noon until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
