Obituary of Lena I. Rappe

Funeral services for Lena Irene Rappe of Troy, MO will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 24, 2008 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO. J. Larry Carter of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home will officiate with burial in Whispering Winds Cemetery. Mrs. Rappe, 96, passed away early Friday morning, March 21, 2008 at Troy Manor. Born September 15, 1911 in Charleston, MO, she was the daughter of Ben and Myrtle May Bennett Powell. She was united in marriage in December of 1960 in St. Louis, MO to Louis Rappe. This union was blessed with three children: Oliver, Opal and Mildred. She was a former cook and owner of various restaurants in the St. Louis area. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Myrtle Powell; one brother, Jack Powell; one son, Oliver "Sam" Beaird; one daughter, Opal Lancaster; one granddaughter, Sharon Lajeuness; one great-granddaughter, Desire Lajeuness; and her beloved husband of 20 years, Louis Rappe. Survivors include one daughter, Mildred Topliff and her husband, Guy Robert, of Troy; nine grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from Noon until the time of service Monday, March 24, 2008 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
