Obituary of Clara Gertrude Watts

Funeral services for Clara Gertrude Watts of Elsberry, MO will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 17, 2008 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. J. Larry Carter of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home will officiate with burial in Star Hope Cemetery near Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be Cannon Watts, Jeremy Watts, Billy Owens, John Owens, Shane Stone and Jeff Stone. Mrs. Watts, 94, passed away early Friday morning, February 15, 2008 at the Elsberry Health Care Center near Elsberry. Born July 7, 1913 in Foley (Apex), MO, she was the daughter of Louie R. and Violet A. Childs Meyer. She was a 1931 graduate of Elsberry High School. She was united in marriage on March 21, 1934 in Elsberry to Reginald Lee Watts. She was a telephone operator, later working for many years as a bookkeeper for Missouri Edison, retiring in 1975. She was a member of the Elsberry First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louie and Violet Meyer; two brothers: Christian Meyer and Thomas Meyer; two sisters: Genevieve Burger and Lucille Henton; one nephew, Mike Meyer; and her beloved husband of 60 years, Reginald Watts, who died December 28, 1994. Survivors include three nieces: Irma Linda Wall and her husband, Eugene, of Elsberry, LaNora Burbridge and her husband, Billy Joe, of Clarksville, MO, and Carolyn Coller and her husband, Austin, of Anchorage, AK; one nephew, Gilbert Watts and his wife Sara of Elsberry; several other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Saturday, February 16, 2008 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
