Obituary of Moebius Gentry

Funeral services for Ira Moebius Gentry of Elsberry, MO will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 16, 2008 at New Hope Baptist Church near Elsberry. Rev. John Zellmer, church pastor, will officiate with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Tim Marshall, Chris Hong, Alonzo Marshall, David Killian, Martin Huckstep, John Norval and Larry Vaughn. Mr. Gentry, 93, passed away early Thursday morning, February 14, 2008 at his home in Elsberry. Born August 21, 1914 in Elsberry, MO, he was the son of Ira and Clara Moebius Gentry. He was united in marriage on February 2, 1974 in Elsberry to Drusilla Eileen Smith. He was a lifelong Lincoln County Farmer and a member of the Lincoln County Farm Bureau. He served on the Elsberry MFA Board of Directors for over 20 years, acting as Chairman for 10 years. He was also Chairman of the Lincoln County Soil and Water District for 37 years. Mr. Gentry was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church near Elsberry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Clara Gentry; and one sister, Lucille Huckstep. Survivors include his beloved wife of 34 years, Drusilla Gentry of Elsberry; one son, Tim Marshall and his wife, Chrissy, of Elsberry; one daughter, Barbara Brickey of Largo, FL; six grandchildren: Chris Hong of Texas, Joey Hong and his wife, Patti, of Florida, Angel Brickey of Florida, Valeria Killian and her husband, David, of Elsberry, Alonzo Marshall and his wife, Lavanda, of Mobile, AL, and Ada Marshall of Elsberry; and several great-grandchildren. He also leaves one nephew, Martin Huckstep and his wife, Diane, of Wisconsin; several other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 15, 2008 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
