Obituary of Carrie A. Day

Funeral services for Carrie Ann Day of Winfield, MO will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 19, 2008 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Rev. Rick Koonce, pastor of the Mid-America Baptist Church, will officiate with burial in New Salem Cemetery near Winfield. Serving as pallbearers will be Dennis Thornhill, Dean Thornhill, Carl Day, Shaun Day, Aaron Day, Dustin Day and Bob Roggeman. Mrs. Day, 98, passed away Wednesday afternoon, January 16, 2008 at the home of her daughter in Winfield, MO. Born October 29, 1909 near New Hope, MO, she was the daughter of Louie and Jodie Ann Tillotson Taylor. She was united in marriage on September 13, 1930 in Eolia, MO to Rodney Overall Day. This union was blessed with five children: Donnell Wayne, Shirley Ann, James Ivan, Jean Frances and Darryl Rodney. Mr. & Mrs. Day farmed in rural Winfield until they retired in 1972. A lifelong resident of Lincoln County, she was a homemaker, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Winfield Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louie and Jodie Taylor; three brothers: Olen Taylor, Ivan Taylor and Eddie Taylor; two sisters: Jessie Davis and Mabel Briscoe; one daughter-in-law, Judy Day; and her beloved husband of 47 years, Rodney Day, who died September 20, 1977. Survivors include three sons: Donnell W. Day and his wife, Barbara, of Winfield, James I. Day, also of Winfield, and Darryl R. Day and his wife, Susan, of Silex; two daughters: Shirley A. Thornhill and her husband, Ira, of Perry, MO, and Jean F. Beckemeyer and her husband, Robert "Bill", of Winfield; eleven grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and four great, great-grandchildren. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 18, 2008 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
