Obituary of Everett Lee Shawmeker

Everett Lee Shawmeker Funeral services for Everett Lee Shawmeker of O'Fallon, MO, formerly of Foley, MO, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 3, 2008 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO. Rev. Klaus, pastor of the Child of God Lutheran Church in O'Fallon, will officiate with burial in Whispering Winds Cemetery near Winfield. Serving as pallbearers will be Nick Melton, Jason Winscher, Justin Winscher, Steve Melton, Tom Winscher, Tim Leigh and Ray Osmus. Mr. Shawmeker, 83, passed away early Sunday morning, December 30, 2007 at St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles, MO. Born July 18, 1924 in Vienna, IL, he was the son of Everett Lee and Cordia Ethel Sanders Shawmeker, Sr. He was united in marriage on September 16, 1954 in St. Louis, MO to Mona V. Tredwell. He was employed for many years as a local delivery truck driver at Gateway Trucking and later by Maslin Trucking, both in St. Louis. Mr. Shawmeker was a member of the Child of God Lutheran Church in O'Fallon. He was also a member of the St. Louis Beagle Club and the Eastern Missouri Beagle Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Cordia Shawmeker, Sr.; two brothers: Billy Shawmeker and Edwin Shawmeker; and two sisters: Dorothy Levill and Evelyn Shawmeker. Survivors include his beloved wife of 53 years, Mona Shawmeker of O'Fallon; one son, Floyd Shawmeker of Overland, MO; five daughters: Shirley Byers and her husband, Zane, of Nashville, AR, Denise Melton and her husband, Steve, of St. Peters, MO, Pamela Winscher and her husband, Tom, of St. Peters, Lisa Leigh and her husband, Tim, of Dittmer, MO, and Lana Osmus and her husband, Ray, of Wheaton, IL; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He also leaves several nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
