Obituary of Thomas Henry Lagemann
Thomas H. "Nick" Lagemann
A Mass of Christian Burial for Thomas Henry "Nick" Lagemann of Elsberry, MO was held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsberry. Father Raymond Hager, church pastor, officiated with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Larry Lagemann, Aaron Lagemann, Clinton Foster, Clay Foster, Tristan Asbury, Elijah Asbury, Brandon Geosling, Raymond Geosling, Ryan Geosling, Matt Lagemann, Brennan Lagemann, Nicholas Pilcher, Bryan Pilcher, Derek Lagemann and Andy Lagemann; honorary pallbearers were Jimmy Stewart, Marion Keim, Lloyd Powelson, Jimmy Jeans and Wayne Kurfman..
Mr. Lagemann, 85, passed away early Thursday morning, December 6, 2007 at the Lincoln County Nursing & Rehab in Troy, MO. Born October 25, 1922 in Vermillion, SD, he was the son of Alfred Louis and Louise Josephine Dailey Lagemann. A veteran of World War II, he served his country in the U.S. Army from March 3, 1943 until being honorably discharged December 7, 1945.He was awarded five Bronze Stars for his service in Central Europe, Rhineland, Northern France and Normandy. He was united in marriage on August 7, 1946 in Louisiana, MO to Margaret Mary Ballman. This union was blessed with ten children: Tom, Larry, Richard, Bill, Debbie, twins Carol and Connie, Alan, Angela and Gary. A lifelong resident of southern Pike and northern Lincoln Counties, he was a farmer almost all of his life. Mr. Lagemann was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsberry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Louise Lagemann; three brothers: Edward Lagemann, Vincent Lagemann and Wayne Lagemann; one sister, Kathryn Scherrer; one son, Lawrence John Lagemann; one granddaughter, Tracy Lynn Lagemann; and one grandson, Donald J. "Donnie" Lagemann.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 61 years, Margaret Lagemann of Elsberry; five sons: Tom Lagemann and his wife, Judy, of New Haven, MO, Richard Lagemann and his wife, Judy, of Wright City, MO, Bill Lagemann and his wife, Vicki, of Clarksville, MO, Alan Lagemann and his wife, Katie, of Elsberry, Gary Lagemann and his wife, Ronna, of Whiteside, MO; four daughters: Debbie Foster and her husband, Dennis, of Elsberry, Carol Pilcher and her husband, Dennis, of Elsberry, Connie Asbury and her husband, Randy, of Yates, MO, and Angela Geosling and her husband, Leaman, of Springfield, MO; 29 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. He also leaves four brothers: John Lagemann and his wife, Pearl of Elsberry, Joe Lagemann and his wife, Dolores, of Center, MO, Philip Lagemann and his wife, Wilma, of Eolia, MO and Jerry Lagemann of Ohio; three sisters: Dorothy Singleton of St. Charles, MO, Margaret Kientzy of Silex, MO, and Bibi Killebrew of Smithton, IL; many, many nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 7, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsberry. A Prayer service was held during the visitation at the church. Memorials may be made to the J. R. Palmer Library, Sacred Heart Church Outreach or to Masses in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 South Fifth Street, Elsberry, MO 63343.
