Obituary of Delmar Tayon

Funeral services for Delmar Ray Tayon of Winfield, MO will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 26, 2007 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Rev. John Birkhead of New London, MO will officiate with burial in Winfield Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Roscoe Hines, Bill Colbert, Eric Tayon, Dennis Hines, Bennie Birkhead and Carl Birkhead; honorary pallbearers will be Joe Wayman and Dusty Wayman. Mr. Tayon, 82, died Wednesday morning, October 24, 2007 at the Lincoln County Medical Center in Troy, MO. Born April 14, 1925 in Winfield, he was the son of Gilbert and Goldie Parsons Tayon. He was united in marriage on September 5, 1944 in Winfield, to Helen Lee Birkhead. This union was blessed with three children: Ronald Ray, Curtis Ed and Connie Renee. Mr. Tayon served his country during World War II in the U.S. Marine Corps from September 22, 1945 until being honorably discharged on December 8, 1946. He was stationed in the Pacific Theater. Mr. Tayon was employed for 30 years as an assembler-repairman at the Ford Motor Company in Hazelwood, MO, retiring in October 1978. He was a member of the Winfield Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Goldie Tayon; one brother, Russell Tayon; and one sister, Evelyn Tayon. Survivors include his beloved wife of 63 years, Helen Tayon of Winfield; two sons: Ronald Tayon and his wife, Diane, of Winfield, and Curtis Ed Tayon also of Winfield; one daughter, Connie Tayon-Lomax and her husband, Larry, of Winfield; and three grandchildren: Cathy Tayon, Eric Tayon and Morgan Lomax. He also leaves several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 25, 2007 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
