Obituary of Julia Ann Scherrer

Julia "Judy" Scherrer Memorial services for Julia Ann "Judy" Scherrer of Elsberry, MO will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 7, 2007 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Inurnment will be in the Watts Family Cemetery near Louisiana, MO. Honorary pallbearers will be Tracy Curtis, Cass Tippit, David Koch, Eric Brinkman, Alex Brinkman and Greg Brinkman. Mrs. Scherrer, 67, died Wednesday morning, October 3, 2007 at her home in Elsberry. Born March 12, 1940 in Elsberry, she was the daughter of Aleck Woodrow and Freda Emma Strus Watts. She graduated from Elsberry High School in 1958 and attended Sanford Brown Business College. She worked as a secretary for Clarence Cannon immediately prior to his election as congressman. She then worked as a secretary at Hercules in Louisiana, MO, and later as a secretary for Hussman Refrigeration in St. Louis, MO. Her most recent employment was with MEMC in St. Peters, retiring September 11, 2001. She was united in marriage in June, 1988 in Elsberry to Leonard Harlan Scherrer, Jr. She attended the First Baptist Church in Elsberry. She was preceded in death by her parents, Aleck and Freda Watts; and one brother, Marvin Glenn Watts, who died in 1981. Survivors include her beloved husband of 19 years, Leonard H. Scherrer, Jr. of Troy; two sons: Christopher Brinkman and his wife, Barb, of Mt. Zion, IL, and Dennis Brinkman and his wife, Holly, of Waverly, IL; one daughter, Linda Curtis and her husband, Tracy, of Livingston, IL; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She also leaves one brother, Kenneth Watts and his wife, Louise, of Elsberry; one sister-in-law, Sidney Traynor and her husband, Paul, of Louisiana; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday, October 6, 2007 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
