Obituary of Ray Edward Trescott

Ray Edward Trescott Funeral services for Ray Edward Trescott of Winfield, MO, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 23, 2007 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Rev. Richard Turnbull of Winfield will officiate with burial in Winfield Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Harry Jones, Jerry Jones, Shelby Jones, Matt Jones, Wayne Wehde and Brian Wehde. Mr. Trescott, 81, died early Thursday morning, September 20, 2007 at Lincoln County Medical Center in Troy, MO. Born February 24, 1926 in Winfield, he was the son of Richard Firman and Mary Martin Trescott. A lifelong resident of the Winfield area, he graduated from Winfield High School in 1944 and attended the University of Missouri in Columbia for two years. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy. He was united in marriage on October 26, 1947 in Troy, MO to Dorothy Mae Weeks. This union was blessed with two sons, James Phillip and David George. Active in his community, Mr. Trescott served as President of the Board of Directors for Winfield Banking Company; he served several years on the Winfield School Board; he was a member of the Board of the Winfield Drainage District; and served on the Board of the Lincoln County Farmers Mutual Insurance Company. He was a member of the Makin Memorial United Methodist Church in Winfield, and was active in the Methodist Men's Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Mary Trescott; one brother, George Richard Trescott; and one son, James Phillip Trescott. Survivors include his beloved wife of almost 60 years, Dorothy Trescott of Winfield; one son, David Trescott and his wife, Carla, of Winfield; one grandson, Jeremy Trescott and his wife, Evelyn, of Wentzville, MO; and two great-grandchildren, Greg and Denise Trescott. He also leaves several in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Saturday, September 22, 2007 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
