Obituary of Virginia Mae Henderson

Funeral Services for Virginia Mae Henderson of Elsberry, MO will be at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Virginia, 79, was born January 5, 1946 in Louisiana, MO, the daughter of Mildred Church. She was a 1963 graduate of Clopton High School. She attended Gem City College for accounting. Virginia was united in marriage on March 5, 1966 in Clarksville, MO to John Joseph Henderson. This union was blessed with one daughter, Sherri. Over the years Virginia worked a variety of jobs including: Monsanto, The Place, Duvalls, Chums, and a loving homemaker. Virginia loved the outdoors and when her health allowed was happiest backpacking and fishing. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mildred Church; and two brothers: William Swarnes and Robert Taylor. Survivors include her beloved husband, John Henderson of Elsberry; their daughter, Sherri Henderson of Elsberry; and one grandson, Jess Henderson and his wife, Ashley. Virginia also leaves two brothers: Charles Taylor and his wife, Wanda, of Quincy, IL and Meril Taylor and his wife, Galina, of Pleasant Hill, MO; one sister, Marie Hernandez of Brighten, IL; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until the time of Funeral Services at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home.
