Obituary of Dorothy E. Novak

Dorothy "Dottie" E. Novak Funeral services for Dorothy "Dottie" Elizabeth Novak of Winfield, MO will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Rev. Richard Turnbull of Winfield will officiate with burial in Winfield Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Bill Walcott, Jimmy Walcott, Michael Dixon, Dave Steiner and Alan Tayon. Mrs. Novak, 83, died Saturday morning, September 15, 2007 at the Winfield Residential Care Center in Winfield. Born September 19, 1923 in Frog Town (Clinton County), IL, she was the daughter of William J. and Catherine Deiters Hilmes. She was united in marriage on June 22, 1946 in St. Louis, MO to Frank Ernest Novak. This union was blessed with five children: Russell, Donna, Patty, Wanda and Gloria. She was self-employed as the owner/manager of The Office restaurant in Winfield for many years. She sold her business and retired in 1988. She was a life-member of the VFW Post #5517 Ladies Auxiliary of Old Monroe/Winfield. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Catherine Hilmes; one son, Russell Novak in 1971; two sisters: Edna Carrier and Hermina Rosen; and her beloved husband of 12 years, Frank Novak, who died January 18, 1959. Survivors include four daughters: Donna Walcott and her husband, James William "Bill" Sr., of Winfield, Patty Steiner and her husband, David, of St. Peters, MO, Wanda Aubuchon of Foley, MO, and Gloria Buckner of Winfield; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She also leaves four sisters: Florence Reiter and her husband, Harry, of Festus, MO, Margaret Ashmann and her husband, David, of Caseyville, IL, Rose Marie Conver of Breese, IL, and Catherine Ritzheimer and her husband, Roger, of Breese, IL; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 17, 2007 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
