Obituary of Billie Jo Brown
Funeral Services for Billie Jo Brown of Elsberry, MO will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Sam Byers, pastor of Elsberry First Baptist Church will officiate with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Brown, Robert Brown, Gary Brown, Alfred Brown, Daryl Hunter and Sean Calvin. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Brown, Bill Brown, Gene Hunter, Kevin Hunter, Roger Taylor and Lynn Taylor.
Billie Jo, 79, passed away Monday morning, December 23, 2024 at her home. Born August 1, 1945 in rural Elsberry, she was the fifth daughter of Charles Alfred “Buck” and Delma Frances Tolbert MacDonald. Billie Jo was united in marriage on June 22, 1963 in Troy, MO to Gary Dale Brown, Sr. This union was blessed with six children: Charles William, Hershel Wayne, Robert Louis, Gary Dale, Jr., Paul Alfred and Christopher Warren. Early in her adult life, Billie Jo worked as a laborer for Forrest Keeling Nursery. Once she married and started her family, Billie was a loving homemaker. She enjoyed BINGO, oil painting, paint by numbers, puzzles, collecting whatnots, watching tv, and gaming (including Nintendo.) Billie Jo loved watching hummingbirds.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles “Buck” and Delma MacDonald; two sisters: Mary Frances Taylor and Alma Lee MacDonald; and one grandson, Bradley Jo Brown.
Survivors include six sons: Bill Brown of Ohio, Wayne Brown of Farmington, MO, Robert Brown and his wife, Sharon Kaye, of Ohio, Gary Brown, Jr. of Bowling Green, MO, Paul Brown and his fiance, Shannon Rogers, of Elsberry, and Chris Brown of Elsberry; thirty grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Billie Jo also leaves three sisters: Barbara Presley of Elsberry, Faye Hunter of Montgomery City, MO and Ruthie Madl of Warrenton, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Services at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Family of Billie Jo Brown in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 South 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
