Obituary of Marlene Ann Hermann
A Mass of Christian Burial for Marlene Ann Hermann of Old Monroe, MO will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe. Fr. Michael Lampe, church pastor, and Deacon Neal Westhoff will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons: Mike Hermann, Tim West, Jesse Carter, Joe West, Calvin Carter, Ryan Hermann and Reid Hermann.
Marlene, 85, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, December 3, 2024 at her home. Born July 14, 1939 in St. Louis, MO, she was the daughter of Vincent and Harriet Gettemeier Arnold. Marlene was a 1957 graduate of DeAndreis Catholic High School. She was united in marriage on May 2, 1959 at St. Paul Catholic Church in St. Louis to Richard J. Hermann. This union was blessed with five children: Chris, Jodi, Jennie, Steve and Andy. After a secretarial career with McDonnell Douglas and American Bakeries in St. Louis she devoted her life to her husband, children and the family farm in Old Monroe. Marlene joined Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in 1959, and served on the Alter Society (former president). She enjoyed gardening, flowers, friends and especially spending time with her family.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Harriet Arnold; and her sister, Mary Dowd.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 65 years, Rich Hermann of Old Monroe; their children: Chris Hermann and his wife, Linda, of St. Louis, Jodi West and her husband Rich of Old Monroe, Jennie Carter and her husband Alan, of Flinthill, Steve Hermann and his wife, Tracey, of Old Monroe, Andy Hermann and his wife Gay, of Old Monroe; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, one great, great-grandchild and two more on the way. Marlene also leaves one brother, Tom Arnold and his wife, Diane, of St. Charles, MO; one brother-in-law, Darrell Dowd of Jefferson City, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 9, 2024 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (or) Masses in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 3838 East Highway 47, P.O. Box 253, Winfield, MO 63389.
