Obituary of Marty Glenn Dietz

Funeral Services for Marty Glenn Dietz of Elsberry, MO will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2014 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Jeff Gordon, pastor of Elsberry Holiness Church, will officiate with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery near Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be Tony Skirvin, Larry Johnson, Bob Harrison, Mike Hartley, Bill Harrell and Rick Clarkson. Mr. Dietz, 59, passed away early Tuesday morning, June 3, 2014 at his home. Born September 21, 1954 in Quincy, Missouri, he was the son of Thomas Beveridge and Mildred Fern Allen Dietz. He was a 1972 graduate of Elsberry High School. He served his country in the United States Army from September 8, 1972 until he was honorably discharged on September 2, 1975 as a SP4. He was united in marriage on July 12, 2003 in Elsberry to Brenda Mae Meyer. Marty worked as a machine operator for Continental Sprayers, retiring August 16, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Dietz in 1976 and Mildred Dietz-Witt in 2013; one brother, Charles Siders in 2009; one niece, Rhonda Clark in 1990; one nephew, Christopher Reed in 1992; and one brother-in-law, Curtis Joslyn in 2006. Survivors include his beloved wife of nearly 11 years, Brenda Dietz of Elsberry; one daughter, Nikki Herbert and her husband, Josh, of Cottleville, MO; one step-son, James White of St. Charles, MO; four step-daughters: Angela Hawkins and her husband, Charles, of St. Charles, Paula Crenshaw of Elsberry, Crystal Preston of Elsberry and Denise Presley, also of Elsberry; and ten grandchildren. He also leaves three brothers: Allen "Shorty" Siders and his wife, Beverly, of Elsberry, Melvin "Porky" Dietz of Columbia, MO and Ben Dietz of Elsberry; seven sisters: Joyce Hare of Harrisburg, PA, Linda Clark of Elsberry, Judy Hoerrman and her husband, Bob, of Kirksville, MO, Donna Dryden of Elsberry, Vicki Sanderson and her husband, Ron, of Bloomsdale, MO, Connie Wallace and her husband, Robert, of Foley, MO and Betty Reed and her husband, Bob, of Louisiana, MO; one brother-in-law, Dennis Meyer of Elsberry; and one sister-in-law, Tina Riffle and her husband, Kenny, of Elsberry; several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2014 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
