Obituary of Paul A. Franke

Paul August Franke Funeral services for Paul August Franke of Winfield, MO will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 16, 2007 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Rev. Richard Turnbull of Winfield will officiate with burial in Whispering Winds Cemetery near Winfield. Serving as pallbearers will be Heath Young, Johnathan Franke, Daniel Parsons, Andrew Erbe, Erik Turner, Ean Turner, Spencer Joyce and Mattheu Knox. Mr. Franke, 84, died early Monday morning, August 13, 2007 at his home near Winfield. Born September 22, 1922 in rural Lincoln County, MO, he was the son of Charles William and Elnora Louise Ortlepp Franke. A lifelong resident of southern Lincoln County, he was a 1941 graduate of Winfield High School. He was united in marriage on December 9, 1944 in Old Monroe, MO to Barbara May Holmes. This union was blessed with four children: Claudia, Debbie, Nathan and Paula. He was employed for many years at McDonnell Douglas aircraft manufacturer in St. Louis, MO, retiring in 1986. He was a member of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union #837 in St. Louis. Mr. Franke served as a Director for the Winfield Senior Housing Board; and volunteered at WINCO (senior center) in Winfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Elnora Franke; one brother, Eugene Henry Franke; one sister-in-law, Ginger Franke; and two sons-in-law: Rick Reed and Donald Kimberly. Survivors include his beloved wife of 62 years, Barbara Franke of Winfield; one son, Nathan Franke and his wife, Ann, of Elsberry, MO; three daughters: Claudia Reed of Troy, MO, Debbie Kimberly of Winfield, and Paula Parsons and her husband, Danny, of Old Monroe, MO; eleven grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. He also leaves several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
