Obituary of Phyllis Marie Galati

Funeral Mass for Phyllis Marie Galati of Foley, MO will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsberry, MO. Fr. Charles Tichacek, church pastor, will officiate. Inurnment will be held in Calvary Cemetery in St. Louis, MO at a later date. Phyllis, 93, passed away Monday, September 30, 2024 at her home. Born June 1, 1931 in St. Louis, she was the daughter of Angelo and Antonia Fascello Capritta. She was united in marriage on September 1, 1951 in St. Louis to Vincent Galati. This union was blessed with five children: Vincent, Angelo, Antoinette, Christina and Joseph. Phyllis worked as a payroll clerk for Roadway Truck Line, Yellow Truck Line and finally CF Truck Line until her retirement in 1992. She was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Angelo and Antonia Capritta; an infant sister; and her beloved husband of 50 years, Vincent Galati, who died on August 30, 1974. Survivors include her children: Vincent Galati and his wife, Vicki, of Fort Worth, TX, Angelo Galati and his wife, Monica, of Granite City, IL, Antoinette Gaffney of Arnold, MO, Christina Galati-Wells and her husband, Steven, of O’Fallon, MO, and Joe Galati and his wife, Sherrie, of Foley, MO; eleven grandchildren: Gina Bolin, Jason Gaffney, Josh Gaffney, Jamie Galati, Nicholas Galati, Brandon Galati, Kelsey Galati, Katina Lyons, Caitlyn Hill, Jake Hill and Michael Galati; and sixteen great-grandchildren. Phyllis also leaves two sisters: Rose Ponticello of St. Louis and Carmela Bamert of O’Fallon; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
