Obituary of Michael Dale Hoelting

A Memorial Mass for Michael Dale Hoelting of Old Monroe, MO will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 4, 2024 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe. Fr. Michael Lampe, will officiate with inurnment in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Sam Painter, Will Painter, Brian Reller and Colin Anderson. Mike, 77, passed away Thursday evening, September 26, 2024 at his home surrounded by family. Born April 16, 1947 in St. Charles, MO, he was the son of John Wilson and Virginia Mae (Foreman) Hoelting. Mike was a 1965 graduate of Winfield High School. He served his country as a morse code interceptor in the United States Army from August 16, 1966 until his honorable discharge on August 2, 1970. Mike was united in marriage on October 27, 1979, in St. Paul, MO to Mary Ann Wilke. This union was blessed with one daughter, Abby. Mike worked as a clerk for the Old Monroe IGA and later as a custodian for Immaculate Conception School. He was a member of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union. Always looking for something to do, Mike enjoyed BINGO, playing cards, trivia, playing pool, and attending auctions to look for unique things. He was also a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, John and Virginia Hoelting; one sister, Toni Hoelting; one brother, David Hoelting; and two brothers-in-law: John Wilke, Jr. and Fr. Jim Wilke. Survivors include his beloved wife of nearly 45 years, Mary Ann (Wilke) Hoelting of Old Monroe; their daughter, Abby Hoelting of Old Monroe; and one granddaughter, Zoe Cummings, at Washington University in St. Louis, MO. Mike also leaves one sister, Teri Jackson and her husband, Donnie, of Old Monroe; his in-laws: Ruth Wilke and her husband, John, of Moscow Mills, MO, Mel Wilke and his wife, Diane, of Potem, AR, Alice Scarry and her husband, Pat, of O’Fallon, MO, Art Wilke and his wife, Cindy of Wentzville, MO, and Joan Wilke of O’Fallon, MO; and several nieces, nephews and friends. Mike’s family will remember and miss his kindness, generosity and sense of humor. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
