Obituary of Johnny Wesley Carson

Visitation Services for Johnny Wesley Carson of Winfield, MO will be Friday, July 12th, 2024 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m.; Funeral with Graveside Services will follow Saturday, July 13th at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Winfield, MO. Pastor Fielding Poe, Church Pastor, Pastor Mike Ryan, Pastor of Horseshoe Bend Baptist Church in Lake Ozark, MO, and Pastor Chad Keeteman, Associate Pastor of The Refuge Church of Pike County in Bowling Green, MO will officiate services followed by graveside services at Winfield Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be: Lucas Carson, Landon Carson, Jacob Allen, Joseph Allen, Frank Meade, Daryl Carson, Charles “Chuck” Hobby and James Cudney. Honorary pallbearers will be: Randy Keeteman, Edward “Charles” Carson,Larry Cudney, Gene Batson, Larry Best, Mark Hasty, Rick Dillard, Tony Hunt, and Shawn Grier. Johnny, 81, passed away Monday night, June 24, 2024 at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, MO. Born March 25, 1943 in Cobden, IL, he was the son of John Henry and Eathel Elizabeth Vaughn Carson. Johnny served his country in the United States Army from March 6, 1964 until his honorable discharge on February 28, 1970. He was united in marriage on June 29, 1968 in Winfield to Linda Sue Crenshaw. This union was blessed with one son, Brian Darren Carson. In his youth, Johnny worked as a nomadic farming family/field hand. Later he was a heavy equipment operator for Crenshaw Excavating, Bernard McMenamy and Al Schrader Construction. He retired from Fred Weber in 2008 with 27 years of service. He was a member of Local 513 Union of Operating Engineers in St. Louis, MO and American Legion Post #420 in Old Monroe, MO; and attended Coffee Talk in Troy, MO. Johnny was a 50+ year member of First Baptist Church Winfield. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, John and Eathel Carson; seven brothers: Kemper Todd “Butch” Carson, Joe Carson, J.V. Carson, Paul Carson, James Carson, Bobby Dale Carson and Lonnie Edward “Buddy” Carson; three sisters: Henrietta “Dubie” Mead, Billy Dove Watson and Cornedith “Pee Wee” Luster; and his beloved wife of 47 years, Linda Carson, who passed on April 15, 2016. Survivors include one son, Brian Carson and his wife, Tina, of Nixa, MO; and two grandsons, Lucas Carson and his fiancé, Kelsie, and Landon Carson, all of Nixa. Johnny also leaves one brother, Larry Carson of Pinckneyville, IL; sister-in-law, Glenda Keeteman and her husband, Randy, of Winfield and brother-in-law, Jim Crenshaw and his wife, Charlotte of Winfield; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends that he considered family.
