Obituary of Garlan F. Brinkman

Garlan F. Brinkman Memorial services for Garlan Franklin Brinkman of Winfield, MO will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 6, 2007 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Rev. Don Bizer, pastor of the St. Paul United Church of Christ, will officiate with inurnment in Bethany Cemetery near Foley, MO. Mr. Brinkman, 71, died early Friday morning, August 3, 2007 at Lincoln County Medical Center in Troy, MO. Born May 5, 1936 in Winfield, he was the son of Parker Brown and Nellie Mae Lemery Brinkman. In his younger years, he was a lineman for the local telephone company (Clem Telephone Co.) in eastern Lincoln County. He later worked as a lineman for Missouri Edison Electric Co. in St. Louis, MO and L.E. Meyers Electric Contractors in St. Louis. Mr. Brinkman also worked for a period of time painting water towers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Parker and Nellie Brinkman; and his twin brother, Marlin Brinkman who died in October, 1997. Survivors include two sons: Chris Brinkman and his wife, Barb, of Mt. Zion, IL, and Dennis Brinkman and his wife, Holly, of Waverly, IL; and seven grandchildren. He also leaves two brothers: Donald Brinkman and his wife, Carol, and David Brinkman and his wife, Sharon, all of Old Monroe, MO; one sister, Julie Murphy, also of Old Monroe; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until time of the memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
