Obituary of Charles Edward Ackerman

Charles Edward “Chuck” Ackerman, 81, of Old Monroe, MO, passed away late Saturday morning, May 18, 2024 at the Missouri Veteran’s Home in Mexico, MO. Born September 28, 1942 in Heartland, MI, he was the son of Edward and Margaret Birchmeier Ackerman. Chuck was a graduate of Heartland High School. He served his country in the United States Navy as a Radar Tech. Chuck was united in marriage on October 26, 1991 in Troy, MO to Delores Ann Hutton. He worked as a tow motor driver for General Motors, retiring in May 2007. Chuck was a member of American Legion Post #420 in Old Monroe, United Auto Workers Local #2250 in Wentzville, MO and Barber Shop Quartet. He was an avid hunter, gunsmith and accordion player. Chuck enjoyed ping pong, shooting pool and bowling. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Margaret Ackerman; three grandchildren: Aubrey Dunn, Kyle Ackerman and Shawn Jennings; one step-granddaughter, Stella; and his brother, Robert Ackerman. Survivors include his wife, Delores Ackerman of Perryville, MO; Mark Ackerman and his wife, Michelle, of Brooklyn MI, Lee Anne Dunn and her husband, Ethan, of Old Monroe and Laura Flores of Adrian; three stepchildren: Chris Lindsey and his wife, Sonja, of Troy, MO, Erin Lindsey and his wife, Cynthia, of Troy and Lucinda Mudd of Perryville; his grandchildren: Kevin Ackerman, and his wife Meredith; Lindsey Clophan; Logan Clophan; Riley Ackerman, Kiersten Gillman and her husband, Brandon, Hunter Dunn, and Michael Jennings and his wife, Amanda; and step-grandchildren: Brandon Lindsey and his wife, Whitney, Justin Lindsey, Michelle Lindsey, Bethany, Renza and Alma; eight grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren. Chuck also leaves other relatives and friends. There are no funeral services scheduled.
