Obituary of Mary Joan Shanks

Graveside Inurnment for Mary Joan Shanks of Foley, MO will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 31, 2024 at Winfield Cemetery in Winfield, MO. A gathering will be held immediately after the inurnment until 4:30 p.m. at Shalom Acres near Winfield. Mary, 77, passed away Monday, April 27, 2024 at her home. Born February 16, 1947 in St. Louis, MO, she was the daughter of Robert and Urssla Reining Forrest. Mary was a graduate of Jennings High School. She was united in marriage in 1965 in St. Louis, MO to Roger Merle Shanks. This union was blessed with three children: Edward, Margaret Louise and Ronald. Mary worked as a caregiver for Delta Center in St. Peters, MO. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Shanks; one son, Edward Shanks; and her daughter, Margaret Shanks. Survivors include one son, Ronald Shanks of Bowling Green, MO; one brother, Robert Forrest, Jr. and his wife, Brenda, of Columbia, MO; several nieces and nephews, including her special niece, Lori Forrest Akins of Columbia; her great-nephew, Robert Rader, who lived with her; other relatives and friends.
