Obituary of Paul Joseph Welch

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Joseph Welch of Elsberry, MO, who was known to all of his many cousins and family members as Joey. Memorial Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 13, 2024 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Laura Taylor, pastor of Elsberry United Methodist Church will officiate. Joey was born on February 15, 1977 in St. Charles, MO, he was the son of Paul Robert Welch and Nancy K. Pratt McElfish. He worked as a union carpenter and was a member of St. Louis Carpenters Local #32 in Wentzville, MO. Preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Patricia Pratt; Great Uncles: Connie McMillin, Phillip ‘Mac’ Schuchman, and Wally Hart; and Uncles: Robert ‘Bobby’ Pratt and Allen Riefle. Survivors include his daughter, Sydney Welch of Creve Coeur, MO; his mother, Nancy McElfish and her husband, Richard, of Riverside, MO and his father, Paul Welch and his wife Belinda, of O’Fallon, MO; one brother, Ryan McElfish of Oklahoma City, OK; one sister, Katie Windle and her husband, Eric, of Kansas City, MO; and two step-sisters: Laura Cosentino of Kansas City and Rebecca Jones and her husband, Dave, of Plano, TX. Joey also leaves his former wife, Nancy Lee Welch of Creve Coeur; aunts and uncles: Paula Riefle of Elsberry, Bill Pratt and his wife, Suzette, of Elsberry, Carolyn Bresnick of Kansas City, Edith Ruiz of Gladstone, MO and Joe McElfish and his wife, Marie, of Gladstone; his great-aunts: Phyllis Hart of Center, MO and Lynn Schuchman of Kansas City his niece, Sophia Marie McElfish; nephews: Benjamin and Patrick Windle; many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until the time of Memorial Services at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 13, 2024 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home.
