Obituary of Fannie L. Rimel

Fannie L. Rimel Funeral services for Fannie Louise Rimel of Elsberry, MO will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Richard Turnbull of Winfield, MO will officiate with burial in the Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be Allan Wheeler, Rusty Wheeler, Caye Bordewick, Tara Lynn Womack, Kyle Rimel, Robbie Rimel, Aaron Hubbard and Nicole Bordewick. Mrs. Rimel, 87, died Friday afternoon, July 20, 2007 at St. Joseph Hospital West in Lake Saint Louis, MO. Born April 2, 1920 in rural Lincoln County near New Hope, MO, she was the daughter of Wesley Lee and Cora Ellen Lefferd Hunter. She was united in marriage on September 5, 1935 in Elsberry to George Edward Rimel. This union was blessed with two children, Darlene and Gilbert. She was a Certified Nursing Assistant and was employed for many years at the Elsberry Health Care Center and later as a private duty nurse. Mrs. Rimel was a member of the Star Hope Baptist Church near Elsberry. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Cora Hunter; two brothers: Charles Hunter and James Hunter; three sisters: Myrtle Ellis, Viola Watkins and Violet Watkins; and her beloved husband of 44 years, George Rimel, who died October 28, 1979. Survivors include one son, Gilbert Rimel and his wife, Nancy, of Elsberry; one daughter, Darlene Wheeler and her husband, James, of Glenrock, WY; five grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She also leaves one brother, Tommy Hunter and his wife, Helen, of Elsberry; one sister, Eva Hagen of Hardin, IL; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday, July 23, 2007 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
