Obituary of Helen Louise Gunn

Funeral Services for Helen Louise Gunn of Elsberry, MO will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Laura Taylor, pastor of the Elsberry United Methodist Church will officiate with burial in Greenwood Cemetery in Clarksville, MO. Serving as pallbearers will be Corey Grimmett, Kenneth “KJ” Grimmett, Jr., LJ Riportella, Bryan Colbert, Roy Gunn, Jr., Charles Hunter, Allen Hunter, Billy Jo Hunter, LeRoy Hunter, Bill Niffen and Kevin Lipp. Helen, 65, passed away Saturday evening, April 27, 2024 at SSM St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Born October 23, 1958 in Clarksville, MO she was the daughter of Roy Lee and Helen Blanche Day Colbert. Helen was united in marriage on June 10, 1975 in Clarksville to William Leon Gunn. This union was blessed with four children: Regina Louise, Melissa Ann, Lisa Marie and Roy William. Helen worked for many years serving customers in restaurants and in auto parts stores. Her most cherished “job” was caring for her family, including following her grandson, Roy, Jr. to his events. Helen enjoyed Bingo! She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Helen Colbert; five siblings: William Colbert, Raymond Colbert, Linda Hudson, Rosemary Howard and Johnny Colbert; two in-laws: Karen Colbert and John Buchanan; two daughters: Melissa Ann Gunn as an infant and Lisa Marie Gunn; and her beloved husband, Bill Gunn, who died on April 9, 2023. Survivors include two children: Regina Gunn and Roy Gunn, both of Elsberry; one grandson, Roy Gunn, Jr.; and four step-grandchildren: Lexus and Jacob Phipps and Ziek and Grace Riportella. Helen also leaves three siblings: Bobby Colbert of Hawthorne, NV, Sandi Buchanan of Frankford, MO and Michael Colbert and his wife, Judy, of Clarksville, MO; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Services at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Liver Foundation, National Kidney Foundation (or) American Cancer Society in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 South 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
