Obituary of Kathryn Lyn Crank

Memorial Services for Kathyn Lyn Crank of Elsberry, MO will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 26, 2024 at the Elsberry United Methodist Church. Pastor Lance Long of First Baptist Church of Crestwood, MO and Rev. Laura Taylor of Elsberry United Methodist Church, will officiate with inurnment in the Elsberry City Cemetery. Kathy was born January 16, 1955 in Louisiana, MO, the daughter of Thomas Gibson and Melba Kathryn Kelly Crank. She passed away Saturday, April 20, 2024 at the Elsberry Health Care Center near Elsberry. She was 69 years old. Kathy attended school in Elsberry, graduating with the class of 1973. She attended Truman State in Kirksville, MO and graduated in 1977 with an education degree. Kathy first taught in Bowling Green, MO and Pike-Lincoln County Co-op for special children from the Clopton and Winfield school districts. She then began teaching in the Elsberry School District, retiring in 2006. Kathy continued as a substitute teacher until 2022. During the summers, Kathy worked at Bank of Lincoln County for many years. She was an avid reader, loved animals and worked on many puzzles during the winter months. Kathy was a longtime member of the Elsberry United Methodist Church. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Tommy and Melba Crank; her brother, Gary Thomas Crank; her step-father, Ralph “Trax” Galloway; and her step-sister, Diane Galloway. Kathy is survived by her step-sister, Nena Galloway Potts and her husband, Keith, of Rogersville, MO; her many cousins; and Mindy Reed, her life-long friend. Kathy will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her family, many friends, and the students she lovingly taught. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Memorial Services at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 26, 2024 at Elsberry United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease Foundation (CJD), Humane Society of Missouri (or) Joseph R. Palmer Memorial Library in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 South 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
