Obituary of Elizabeth Charlene Fakes

Elizabeth Charlene Fakes Graveside services for Elizabeth Charlene Fakes of Elsberry, MO were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 14, 2007 at Star Hope Cemetery near Elsberry. Rev. Raymond Doussard, chaplain for Tip Hospice, officiated. Mrs. Fakes, 73, died early Thursday morning, July 12, 2007 at the Elsberry Health Care Center near Elsberry. Born May 6, 1934 in Elsberry, she was the daughter of Roland Everett and Osie Amanda Ulery Hines. A lifelong resident of Elsberry, she was a 1952 graduate of Elsberry High School. She was united in marriage on July 13, 1952 in Elsberry to Kenneth Lee Fakes. This union was blessed with four children: Cathy, Karen, Ben and Joe. She was employed for many years as a seamstress at the garment factories, Ron Herrin, Inc. in Elsberry and Commercial Apparel in Winfield, MO, retiring on May 6, 2006. She was a former member of the Rebecca Lodge and the American Legion Auxiliary, both in Elsberry. She was also a member of the Garment Workers Local #494 in Lincoln County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roland and Osie Hines. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Kenneth Fakes of Elsberry; two sons: Ben Fakes and his wife, Claudia, of Newllano, LA, and Joe Fakes of Elsberry; two daughters: Cathy Cooper and her husband, Harry, of Elsberry, and Karen Wolf and her husband, Terry, of Hays, KS; six grandchildren and four step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and twelve step-great-grandchildren; and five step-great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves several in-laws, cousins, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 13, 2007 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Memorials may be made to the Community Loving Care Hospice or to the Lincoln County Council on Aging in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 South Fifth Street, Elsberry, MO 63343.
