Dear David and Terrie, I’m so very saddened to hear of Dan’s passing. What a lifetime of memories I have of the East family, including babysitting both of you! Most of all, I remember Dan’s kindness to me when I lost my husband exactly one year after Bev’s passing. There are no words for what he and Bev meant to me. My prayers are with you.

Dan and I first met when we both started working at Whitaker Cable. We each had a technician assigned to work with us. Bev was Dan’s technician and that’s when he and I first met her. There are many memories that I have with Dan during that time and later over the phone. While he and I were separated by distance over the following years, we still stayed in contact with each other. As it was back then, I’ve always considered Dan a very dear friend, who I will miss very much.

Dan was my Best Man for my wedding. He was my closest friend. I was also Dan's Best Man for his wedding to Bev. We went on many adventures together. He loved to canoe the streams in Missouri and in Arkansas. We attended many concerts in Kansas City while we were both living there. Bev and Dan both loved their farm in St Anthony. He loved his cattle and chickens. He had talent with mechanical repair. He tackled some pretty big projects and was always successful. I knew of Dan in High School but by a strange coincidence in VietNam I saw him marching with his unit in the division base camp. We only got to talk that one time there. It was when Dan moved to Kansas City that our friendship grew. He's a great guy and I will miss him.

I went to school with Dan, in Carthage, until he moved away. He was always kind and smiling, and a great friend to many. Thoughts and prayers to his family.

Dan was a good friend and worker at DNR. Most folks do not know it, but he was instrumentals in passing the fee legislation that saved WPC permits. While several DNR lobbyist' worked the floors of the Capitol, Dan worked the computers behind the front lines. I could run into an elected official who wanted some specific data on the proposal late in the day, catch Dan heading for the door and tell him what was needed. Next morning I would find a stack of printouts on my desk, ready for the State Capitol. He was a winner.

Danny and his family lived on the same street that I did growing up only a block away. I remember playing as grade school children and his older brother pulling us are pushing us in the wagon. He was in the Carthage schools up until about the ninth grade when I think his dad transferred to Jeff city And Danny finished out his schools there. I have great memories of him and his family flying Motor model airplanes on strings in his backyard and I especially remember his mother‘s weeping willow tree that my mother cut branches off of to give me spankings. His dad flew airplanes for the highway patrol and he often would come home to land in Carthage and buzz his house which was just a block from mine on the way home to let them know he was in the area. It was a great childhood with Danny and I know he’s going to be missed.
