Obituary of Mary Velma Robinson

Funeral Services for Mary Velma Robinson of Elsberry, MO will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 18, 2024 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Jeff Gordon, pastor of Elsberry Holiness Church and Rev. Sammy Lorton, pastor of Whiteside Holiness Church, will officiate with burial in the Elsberry City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jacob Gordon, Jerry Jones, Scott Mills, Zach Kuntz, Nick Kuntz, Steven Turner and Curtis Turner. Honorary pallbearers will be Harlan Scherrer, Rob Mills, Ryan Mills, Darrin Mills, Jerry Anthony and David Hunt. Mary Velma, 92, passed away late Monday night, March 11, 2024 at the Elsberry Health Care Center near Elsberry. Born January 9, 1932 in Elsberry, she was the daughter of Raymond E. and Sarah Edna Admire Mills. Mary Velma was a 1950 graduate of Elsberry High School. She was saved when she was 19 years old and remained a faithful member of Elsberry Holiness Church. Mary Velma worked as a clerk for Schloemann Cleaners in Troy, MO for many years. She was married to Stark King for several years until his passing. Mary Velma was later united in marriage on July 21, 1988 in Silex, MO to Rev. Forrest Eugene Robinson, Sr. She had a loving heart and a sweet smile. Mary Velma had a devotion to the Lord and offered unceasing prayers for her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Sarah Mills; four brothers: Glenn, Ralph, Laverne “Dutch” and Ray, Jr. “Jigs”; two sisters: Oneita Robinson and Ruth Mills, who died as a child; her first husband, Stark King; and her second husband, Rev. Forrest Robinson. Survivors include her sister, Marcella Owens of Elsberry; many nieces, nephews, and six stepchildren who she thought of as her own children; other relatives, her church family; and a host of friends. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Services at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 18, 2024 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home.
