Obituary of Leona Marie Hatcher

Funeral Services for Leona Marie Hatcher of Moscow Mills, MO will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Rev. Roger Alford will officiate with burial in the Elsberry City Cemetery near Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be Rory Hatcher, Cody Hatcher, Nick Kayser, Hunter Deckard, Tony Winters, Joshua Russell, Corey Rosenfelder and Nicholas Grillo. Leona, 77, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at her home. Born January 6, 1947 in St. Louis, MO, she was the daughter of Irvin J. and Eunice D. Nichols Hoskins. Leona was united in marriage on January 21, 1963 in St. Louis to Roy Kennard Hatcher. This union was blessed with four children: Kenny, Kevin, Tammy and Tricia. Roy and Leona celebrated 36 years of marriage before Roy passed on May 24, 2000. Leona worked as a cook for Camp Avery for many years. She enjoyed reading and “junking.” Leona was later married on February 11, 2006 in Annada, MO to Richard Harvey Stewart. They celebrated 11 years of marriage before Dick’s passing on April 21, 2017. Leona was preceded in death by her parents, Irvin and Eunice Hoskins; two siblings: Cathy Mofield and Danny Hoskins, who were twins; one son, Kevin Hatcher; two grandchildren: Jillian and Trevor; her first husband, Roy Hatcher; and her second husband, Richard “Dick” Stewart. Survivors include three children: Kenny Hatcher and his wife, Tobie, of Troy, MO, Tammy Hatcher and her husband, Jimmy Reynolds, of Elsberry, MO and Tricia Russell and her fiance, Tony Winters of Winfield; her daughter-in-law, Kathleen Hatcher of Wentzville, MO; twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Leona also leaves six siblings: Richard Hoskins and his wife, Kathleen, of St. Ann, MO, Virgil Hoskins of Elsberry, Fay Leman and her husband Robert “Putt” of Overland, MO, Carolyn Hitzeman and her husband, Carl, of Park Hills, MO, Betty Hatcher and her husband, Donnie, of Elsberry and Patty Price and her husband, Gary, of St. Ann; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
