Obituary of Daniel Charles Schappe
Funeral Services for Daniel Charles Schappe of Elsberry, MO, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 18, 2024 at Elsberry Assembly of God Church. Rev. Richard Pillers, church pastor, will officiate with burial in St. Charles Memorial Gardens in St. Charles, MO. Serving as pallbearers will be Bob Kindred, Fred Hagemeier, Danny VomBey, Charlie Hedges, Brian Schappe and Dustin Dickey.
Mr. Schappe, 63, passed away early Thursday morning, January 11, 2024 at SSM St. Joseph Hospital in Lake St. Louis, MO. Born July 13, 1960 in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of Walter and Mary Sue Tucker Schappe. Dan was a 1978 graduate of Fort Zumwalt High School. Dan was united in marriage on July 21, 1979 at the First Assembly of God Church in O’Fallon, MO to Renee June Cagle. He and his brother, Don, operated Schappe Auto Body together from 1966-1999; and later ran SDR Construction in Perry, MO. Dan, his brother and nephew also operated two BBQ Shacks in the Perry area. Dan was an avid golfer. He loved hunting, especially duck and deer. Dan was an active member of Elsberry Assembly of God Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Mary Schappe; and one brother, Steven Schappe.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 44 years, Renee Schappe of Elsberry; one brother, Donald Schappe of Moscow Mills, MO; his niece and nephew: Katie Walters and her husband, Nicholas, of Arnold, MO and Jon Schappe of Elsberry; great-nieces: Isabella and Teagan Walters; other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Services at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 18, 2024 at the Elsberry Assembly of God Church. Memorials may be made to the Elsberry Assembly of God Church (or) Pancreatic Cancer Action Network in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 South Fifth Street, Elsberry, MO 63343.
